Medway Greens Say Thank You

Below is a copy of a letter sent to the media earlier this week.

Dear Sirs,

I would like to thank the voters across the 12 wards in the Medway Towns where we stood a candidate for taking the trouble to vote Green in last weeks locals. We were some way from getting a green councillor, and recognise that we benefited from the anger towards the national Lib-Dem party, nevertheless we were heartened by the vote share across all the wards.

Medway Green Party have been active for only a couple of years and we have yet to build the supporter network that other bigger parties have across the Towns but we are involved in many community activities and national ones such as the Anti-Cuts movement and the No New Coal lobby. We will continue to challenge the council on their less than democratic decision making processes as well as help where we can in local green issues, sustainability concerns and reductions in services.

I would also like to thank the electoral service team at Medway Council for their help and guidance in the run up to the elections, its appreciated.

Some of our critics suggest that we have no hope in Medway and accuse us of being a fringe party but you only have to look down the coast to Brighton and Hove City Council where Greens are now the largest party, and up the line to Westminster and our first Green MP, to see that isn’t the case. Keep an eye out for us, check out our blog and website or follow us on Twitter medwaygreens and Facebook Medway Greens.

Kind Regards,

Trish Marchant, Medway Green Party Election Agent.
