NASA: New Record for the 12-Month Running Mean Global Temperature

The Climate Progress site recently published a posting relating to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) releasing a revised draft of Global Surface Temperature Change by Dr. James Hansen et al.

“We conclude that global temperature continued to rise rapidly in the past decade” and “there has been no reduction in the global warming trend of 0.15-0.20°C/decade that began in the late 1970s.”

NASA makes it official that we have set a new 12-month running mean global temperature record – this evidence of human-caused warming is all the more powerful  “because it occurs when the recent minimum of solar irradiance is having its maximum cooling effect” the paper notes.

Perhaps I missed the mainstream media’s coverage of this new record but it does not seem to have been considered as important as the “global cooling” stories.
